Volunteer With Us

Flower-Forward doesn't work without volunteers. Rescuing flowers sounds simple, but somebody has to pick them up, sort out the stems that are still good, trim them, build the bouquets, and get them where they're going. That somebody is us...and I'd love for it to include you.

You don't need to know anything about flowers. I didn't either when I started. I learned everything by doing it, and you will too. If you can hold a pair of shears and you want to make someone's day better, you're qualified.

What Volunteers Actually Do

It depends on the event, but usually some mix of this: sorting and trimming donated flowers, putting together bouquets, and then the best part, going to the events. Sometimes that means handing out bouquets or could mean sitting with a patient or a resident and making a bouquet together. Either way, you're there for the moment the flowers land, which is the whole reason we do this.

Why You Should Do It

You see the impact immediately. This isn't the kind of volunteering where you wonder if it mattered. You hand someone flowers, and you watch their face. That's it. That's the proof.
It's actually fun. Making bouquets is relaxing, kind of creative, and weirdly addictive. Every event I leave in a better mood than I showed up in.
You get service hours. If you're in high school, we verify volunteer hours including for Bright Futures. If you're in college or your job does volunteer programs, we've got you covered there too.
You meet good people. The volunteers, the residents, the patients, the staff...everyone at these events wants to be there. It's a good crowd to spend a Saturday or Sunday with.
You can bring people. Most events are two to three hours, on weekends or evenings, and a lot of them work for kids and families. Friend groups, school clubs, teams from work; the more hands, the more bouquets.
